Does your system fall under any prohibited practice?

Article 5 lists practices that cannot be deployed in the EU regardless of risk-mitigation. If any apply, the classification stops here.

FAQ

Questions about the classifier

What the tool checks, how it scores, and where its boundaries are.

Is this a legal substitute for a formal AI Act conformity assessment?

No. This is a fast triage tool to direct you at the correct obligation set under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. Formal conformity assessment, technical documentation under Annex IV, and notified-body involvement for high-risk systems all require qualified review.

What does the classifier check?

It walks through (1) Article 5 prohibited practices, (2) Annex III high-risk use-case domains, (3) Annex I safety-component status under Article 6(1), (4) general-purpose AI scope under Article 51, (5) the 10^25 FLOPs systemic-risk threshold under Article 51(2), and (6) Article 50 transparency triggers.

Does the tool store my answers?

No. The classifier runs entirely in your browser: answers stay in component state and are not transmitted to a server, logged, or persisted.

When did the AI Act enter into force?

Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 entered into force on 1 August 2024. Article 5 prohibitions apply from 2 February 2025; GPAI obligations from 2 August 2025; the bulk of high-risk obligations from 2 August 2026; with some Annex I high-risk obligations phased in to 2 August 2027.

How does this connect to AIGP exam preparation?

The IAPP AIGP exam covers the EU AI Act in detail, including risk classification, the Annex III domains, and GPAI obligations. Working through this classifier mirrors the kind of scenario-based reasoning the exam tests, and Startege's full AIGP track maps every clause to flashcards and practice questions.

Not legal advice. This classifier is an educational triage tool aligned to Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. Final risk classification, conformity assessment, and technical documentation under the AI Act require qualified legal and compliance review.
